IPRNmail PhD Vacancies at Siberian Studies Centre

The Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology is one of the world's leading centres for research in social anthropology. Common to all research projects at the Max Planck Institute is the comparative analysis of social change; it is primarily in this domain that its researchers contribute to anthropological theory, though many programmes also have applied significance and political topicality.

The Siberian Studies Centre plans to recruit three PhD candidates to commence their work at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology on (or shortly after) 15 March 2014.

Congratulations to IPRN ex-com member Mr. Shridhar jawak for winning the  joint ISPRS student consortium competition. He will receive  free DMCii imagery to aid ongoing remote sensing projects.

Shridhar D Jawak from the National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research will map polar regions to gain a better understanding of the dynamic processes of seasonal snow cover. Using recent DMC imagery alongside the Landsat archive will allow the project to identify changes over time and assess the response of seasonal snow cover to global warming.
