Hi Subho,
Please forward this to anyone who might be interested. Including colleges around Blr.
Thanks,
Nandini
The 2014 NextGen Genomics & Bioinformatics Technologies (NGBT) Conference to be held at NIMHANS Bangalore between 17-19 November 2014 will cover recent advances in next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, bioinformatics for NGS and translational applications of NGS in various areas of life sciences. Sessions will focus on human, animal and plant genomic studies as well as bioinformatics techniques.

The conference is organised by SciGenom Research Foundation (SGRF), a not-for-profit organization that is working to promote Science in India through research and education, and is co-hosted by National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) & The Institute of Bioinformatics (IOB).

IndiaBioScience (www.indiabioscience.org) is an Outreach Partner for the NGBT 2014 conference. As part of this arrangement, a special registration rate of Rs 1000 is available to students and post-doctoral scholars who register through IndiaBioScience. The registration rate for persons needing hostel accommodation is Rs 1500. To avail of these special rates, please fill out this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1JbdZwIp2_aoFTkstpcGI-wGrgff3L6XSUvaQPtRQD1M/edit#
The meeting will showcase leading national and international scientists sharing their research findings, a pre-conference bioinformatics workshop, a job and career fair, an art and science exhibition, stalls from leading journals and organisations. In addition, several sessions will be dedicated to discussing techniques and methods, creating a learning environment for students and faculty in the cutting edge area of genomics technologies and its applications.
To provide a flavour of how NGS techniques work and how they can gather information rapidly, a realtime genotyping study will be done at the conference where samples will be collected from consenting participants on the first day and analyzed for specific single nucleotide variants (SNPs). The genotyping data will be presented on the last day of the meeting.
The special rates for registration cannot be found on the NGBT website. They can only be availed of here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1JbdZwIp2_aoFTkstpcGI-wGrgff3L6XSUvaQPtRQD1M/edit#
