them. We need a person urgently on this project.
Thanks
Rama
Open: Project Scientist position in Bay of Bengal project
There is a Project Scientist B opening at the Tata Centre for
Interdisciplinary Sciences, TIFR-Hyderabad for the duration of a year
(extendable). Funding agency: Monsoon Mission, Ministry of Earth Sciences.
The project offers excellent opportunities for fundamental research in
fluid mechanics on processes in the Bay of Bengal. The study will be
mainly theoretical and computational. Exciting possibilities for joining a
cruise which makes measurements in the Bay of Bengal are on offer. The
work will include understanding sea-salt aerosols, mixing in the Bay-of-
Bengal, studying statistical and temporal properties of ocean
data, and stability analysis of ocean flows. We will try to answer (partially
of course) the question "what makes the Bay of Bengal different"
The ideal project scientist will be extremely strong academically and
wishing to so basic research in fluid mechanics. A prior knowledge of
fluid mechanics is desirable. Candidates with a B.Tech. (Ocean/ Mechanical/
Chemical/ Civil)/ MSc. (Physics/ Mathematics/Oceanography) or similar
qualifications can send their CV to rama@tifrh.res.in.
Salary: Consolidated salary of Rs. 36000 per month.
