The Indian Polar Research Network (IPRN) invites applications for the 2014-2015 IPRN Executive Committee. This presents a unique opportunity for you to become a member and gain leadership and collaboration experience in a polar organization. Every August, the leadership of the Indian Polar Research Network renews itself and the purpose of this email is to encourage applications for the 2014-2015 IPRN Executive Committee.
IPRN carries out APECS (Association of Polar Early Career Scientists, an internationally respected polar organization,http://apecs.is) mandate in India by providing guidance to early career researchers, students and anyone with a keen interest in polar regions. We also network scientists and researchers working in different fields of science.

The Executive Committee consists of 3 working groups:
1. Vice-President: Research Education and Outreach
2. Vice-President: Social Outreach and Website
3. Vice-President: Membership, Affiliations and Finance
The President position would be held amongst the 3 Vice-Presidents in rotation for a period of 4 months each.
Responsibilities in brief of each working group:
Research Education and Outreach (REO):
- To promote polar research and related sciences by conducting workshops/seminars/panel discussions in schools/colleges/universities.
- To collaborate with national and international agencies working on the themes of climate, environment and cryospheric research.
Social Outreach and Website (SOW):
- To communicate polar research and science among educators, students, media and the general public.
- To manage IPRN's website.
·Membership, Affiliations and Finance (MAF):
- To facilitate interdisciplinary networking in polar and cryospheric research.
- To engage in activities that attract membership.

What is the timeline for the election?
The 2014-2015 IPRN Executive Committee elections follows the given timeline:
· 13 July- 27 July: Accepting nominations
· 28 July- 3 August: Online (doodle poll) voting by members
· 4 August: New IPRN Executive Committee announced
